Headwaters advised Kustom Signals, Inc. (Kustom) a Lenexa, Kansas-based manufacturer of law enforcement equipment, on its sale to MPD, Inc., an Owensboro, Kentucky-based ESOP that provides products for military, law enforcement, industrial and commercial customers. Kustom was a subsidiary of Public Safety Equipment, Inc. (PSE).
“Kustom Signals is an industry pioneer and long-standing market leader in speed-monitoring solutions for law enforcement agencies. Its stellar brand name, global customer loyalty and leadership position in radar and laser speed technologies were complementary to MPD’s existing business serving law enforcement agencies,” said Headwaters Managing Director Samrat Karnik. “Under new ownership, the company’s management will be able to continue to grow the company and strengthen its global leadership position through investments in new products and customer service.”
Headwaters MB acted as exclusive financial advisor to Kustom Signals in the transaction. This represents the second deal this year for Headwaters in the sensors & instruments sectors and builds on its track-record of advising companies serving the government. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
