Maney is a successful entrepreneur responsible for the founding or co-founding of companies in the telecommunications, financial services, and political information technology businesses.

He joined the Chronicle Publishing Company of San Francisco immediately after business school, where he was Assistant to the President of the Newspaper Division, before joining InterMedia Partners as a newspaper and cable television M&A analyst. He moved to the operating side of the cable business with Intermedia two years later, and after three years running the company’s 250,000-subscriber Eastern Division, left to start Worldbridge Broadband Services. Worldbridge, an innovative technical field services provider to cable operators, was sold to C-Cor Inc.in 2000.

He worked with Seefried and a group of experienced telecom investors to create Open Access Broadband Networks in 2000, and co-founded Headwaters with Seefried in September 2001.

He stepped down to a non-executive role at the end of 2009, and founded Independent Nation LLC, a political information and consulting services provider. Maney now serves on the board of Headwaters MB.

He is a graduate of the State University of New York and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
